Crown estate grade1 listed home restored to former glory

A Grade 1 listed, crown estate property, is to all intents and purposes your worst nightmare when wanting to refurbish. The previous owners had not touched the house since the 1970's when they had somehow been allowed to remove all the original features. My client wanted to restore the property to its original glory.  All the cornices, mouldings, skirtings and architraves were reinstated and looked asthough they had been there forever. We sourced floors that were hand sanded and rolled to look as if they had been in the house for 200 years. Whilst the house is mostly traditional we added a touch of the 21st century with a "glass box" infill to the ground floor. Literally, no stone was left unturned. Each pebble stone in the garden was laid individually to form the dramatic mosaic.
